Union Pacific Railroad, Long Beach, CA
At the Union Pacific Railroad Bridge in Long Beach, CA, MZT replaced an existing seven-span steel girder structure erected over the Los Angeles River on 40-foot high cast-in-place concrete piers. This project included the construction of retaining walls, a new steel girder bridge built upon concrete piers, footings and driven pile foundations, demolition of the old railroad bridge, miscellaneous asphalt paving, utility work and concrete slab replacement. Additionally this work was done while maintaining an active flow of water in the L.A. River.
