Joint Regional Deployment Processing Center, Phase 1, March Air Reserve Base, CA
MZT served as the Prime Contractor on this new construction project to provide a Joint Regional Deployment Processing Center (JRDPC) for March Air Reserve Base. The work performed under this project consisted of providing labor, equipment and materials to abate and demolish an existing Passenger Terminal (Building 265). We then constructed a two story JRDPC terminal for deployment of military personnel and equipment, processing, passenger services, classified briefing rooms, food services, and office areas.
This project was bid as a Design-Bid-Build project, which meant that MZT was provided with shop drawings by the client’s separately contracted designer. During construction, however, we encountered significant errors with the structural steel drawings that required a two-month-long extension in order to correct so that the project could be constructed safely and without further constructability issues. To counter the scheduling delays, we worked closely alongside the client and building end user to find areas within the approved schedule to gain back the delays and accelerate the construction of critical path items. Because of our ability to make changes to unexpected complications and implement cost-saving solutions, the project was 100% complete one month ahead of the revised contract completion date. |
