Fullerton Creek Channel Improvements from Knott to Western Ave, CA
For this project, Macro-Z-Technology dewatered then demolished the concrete-lined trapezoidal channel and reconstructed the reinforced rectangular sections in order to increase the capacity of the channel to handle a 100 year flood event. The project included excavation and drilled-pile sheet-plate shoring to support the existing soil following removal of the concrete lining and safe forming of the reinforced invert and trapezoidal channel.
Work also consisted of relocation of utility infrastructure, structural steel, dams construction, HDPE pipe, reinforced concrete box culvert, reinforced concrete structures, construction of a maintenance walkway and a maintenance road alongside the new channel walls. Sub-grade and backfill aggregate were placed via telescoping conveyor belts, while concrete was placed via concrete pumps. Most all work was within an active major waterway, which required an extensive water by-pass and dewatering system. The project took place adjacent to residences, parks, businesses, and high-traffic roadways. MZT provided traffic control and public relations support to ensure that our job site neighbors were supported and safe. |
