Design-Build Veterans Administration Regional Office Building, Boise, ID
This design-build project consists of a one-story Class “A” regional office building which will house 91 employees for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The site is at the main entrance to the historic Veterans Center and adjacent to the US Army Reserve Center. Site work includes: landscaping, site lighting, concrete walkways, parking control systems, and bicycle storage facilities. All underground utilities serving the new building include sanitary sewer, fire water, potable water, gas, geothermal, electrical and telecommunications. Another key feature included in the building is the installation of impression graphics in the lobby and a fully automated high-density filing system.
The design for the stand-alone building, surface parking lot and all necessary site improvements will replace the existing Regional Office Building, which is a one-story structure. The new building’s structural system and foundation were designed to accommodate an increased occupancy by allowing for the addition of a 2nd floor. If constructed, the future 2nd floor will include biomedical research space, research laboratories and educational/training facilities. MZT also provided architectural-interior designs. This facility was awarded LEED Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council. |
“At no cost to the VA, the Contractor and his subs coordinated with the local architect to modify VA’s LEED Silver design, and achieved an upgraded LEED Gold certification, VA’s first.”
