Anaheim Fire Immediate Response, Orange County
The biggest fire to hit Orange County in nearly a decade destroyed dozens of structures and threatened hundreds more, nearly destroying Irvine Regional Park and forcing several thousand people to evacuate neighborhoods in Anaheim, Orange, and Tustin. MZT was first called to respond by Anaheim Department of Public Works to assist in the demolition and cleanup effort of homes in the City of Anaheim. MZT demolished red-tagged homes that were in danger of collapsing and causing damage to adjacent occupied yellow-tagged homes.
MZT mobilized within hours of receiving notification and worked alongside city officials and the Anaheim Fire Department to safe off utilities (gas and electric) and to safely demolish the red-tagged homes and reduced further damage to the surrounding neighborhoods. MZT temporarily braced walls that could fall in the wrong direction. Damaged stud walls were demolished from the top downward in a systematic manner with care not to buckle the wall. The roof, walls, and interior items were demolished inward toward the center of the foundation. Debris was consolidated on the slab as directed by the City of Anaheim. |
